Central Railway has retained the US project management firm Parsons as its programme manager. Parsons is one of the leading multinational engineering and programme management companies with lead technical responsibility for worldwide contracts involving several billion US dollars in the rail and transport sectors. Parsons has a strong presence in the UK, in the petrochemicals, power, environment and both road and railway sectors.
The French national railway (SNCF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Railway in February 2002 to promote the development of a rail freight link between the north of England and the Channel Tunnel. This follows SNCF's review of commercial, engineering and technical aspects of the Central Railway project. In addition, SYSTRA, SNCF's engineering subsidiary has worked with us to develop route and terminal options in northern France.
