Robert Raffety, a Chartered Surveyor, joined the Company as Director for real estate and community affairs. He previously worked at Humberts Chartered Surveyors where he was a partner specialising in commercial funding and property portfolio management. He developed the Company's Property Protection Scheme (PPS).
Alan is a founding director of Central Railway and was its Chief Financial Officer responsible for the development of the project case and, in particular, its commercial revenue case, until the death of Andrew Gritten, the project's originator, in late 2004. Earlier he worked in the Project Finance Department at Schroders (now part of Citigroup) and for KPMG and ICI. Alan was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge, and has an MBA from INSEAD, France.
Philip JenkinsonPhilip Jenkinson holds both British and French nationalities, is bilingual in English and French and is a member of the French Bar. He is managing partner of Triplet & Associés, one of the principal legal practices in Lille, northern France. He has successfully promoted Central Railway with SNCF, RFF and the French government. From 1979 to 1985 Philip was British Vice-Consul in Lille and prior to that worked in industry for Dutch, British and Italian organisations. He is currently Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lille.
Michel CornilMichel Cornil is a distinguished French railwayman who was special adviser to the previous head of SNCF, Louis Gallois and is currently head of SYSTRA the French state railway engineering company owned principally by SNCF and RATP. He has been instrumental in a number of major French rail projects.
Sir Thomas Legg KCB QCSir Thomas Legg brings senior level UK Government and other relevant experience and judgement to the Company. He practised as a barrister before joining the Civil Service in 1962 where he led a distinguished career in the Lord Chancellor's Department. From 1989 - 1998 he was Permanent Secretary of the Department. On his retirement from the Civil Service in 1998, Sir Thomas conducted the Sierra Leone Arms Investigation. In 2000 he was appointed Chairman of Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust. Sir Thomas is a member of the House of Commons Audit Committee. He was made a QC in 1990 and made a KCB in 1993.
Michael ButcherMichael graduated from Keele University with a BA honours degree in Philosophy and Law and is a Barrister. He was Group Legal Director and Company Secretary of Eurotunnel from 1988-1991. Prior to then he had an international career in Exxon. Michael is a Consultant to City of London law firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain and to French law firm Triplet & Associes. He is a past President of the Franco-British Lawyers Society and is Officier dans l'Ordre National du Mérite.
Ian Hunter, QCIan Hunter is a leading UK and French commercial lawyer. He took silk in 1980, is a Bencher of the Inner Temple and sits as a Deputy High Court Judge. He practises commercial and community law from Essex Court Chambers. He is also an avocat and member of the Paris Bar and is Vice-President of the Franco-British Lawyers Society. He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge and Harvard Law School.
Chris SavageChris Savage joined the company in 2001 as Director of Government Affairs and was appointed to the Board in 2006. He is a Director of the political and public policy consultancy Foresight. He started his career in the civil service and then joined the Economic Department of the TUC where he worked on various aspects of economic and industrial policy, regulation and competitiveness. Chris has had wide experience of the public policy process and lobbying in both industry and consultancy.
